Who can use this
A signed-in account with Author Studio enabled and a saved Author profile.
Before you start
Save your Author profile first. You may also add a published-book record in Author Studio → Published books and select it for your website. The website and book record work independently, and ARC remains optional.
Keep the site Private until both preview sizes and every destination are correct.
Steps
- Open Author Studio → Website.
- Choose Author home, Book launch or Reader circle. Applying a template uses your approved Author profile and saved public links but does not publish anything.
- Edit the title, introduction, search description, theme and primary visitor action.
- To feature one of your books, choose Feature a published book and select the saved record under Featured published book. The selected title, description and cover can appear only on your own public Author website.
- Add up to 12 trusted HTTPS destinations. Public book discovery remains separate from this focused Author website, and protected ARC files stay inside ARC.
- Open Audience from the builder to enable lead capture and maintain its explicit consent wording.
- Switch between Desktop and Mobile preview and check the live content preview.
- Choose Private or Public and save. The builder shows whether the saved My Blurbly address is actually visitor-reachable, and every successful save creates an owner-only revision.
- To return to older saved content, open Website revisions, confirm the chosen revision and restore it. Restoration creates a new current revision instead of deleting later history.
What happens next
One current Author website and its owner-only saved history are available. A public site is reachable at its My Blurbly address only when the Author profile and website are both public. If you select a published book, logged-out visitors can see that book and its cover on this site; the visibility of any other record remains unchanged.
Common problems
- My published book is not available in the website selector.
- Open Author Studio → Published books, save the book details, then return to Website and reload the builder.
- Publishing is blocked for the chosen primary action.
- Complete the real requirement shown by the builder: enabled audience signup or at least one trusted link.
- The site says Public but visitors cannot open it.
- Publish the Author profile too. The builder distinguishes saved website visibility from actual public reachability.
- I cannot connect a custom domain.
- Custom-domain activation is not connected. The builder shows the real My Blurbly address and does not pretend a domain is active.
- A revision cannot be restored.
- Reload the builder first. A stale tab cannot overwrite a newer save, and a restored public revision must still meet current publication requirements.
