Who can use this

A signed-in account and a public Book. The account credited as its Author cannot rate the same Book.

Before you start

Reviews are public, independent opinions. An advance copy, payment or affiliate relationship must never depend on a positive rating or favourable sentiment.

Save private draft in a private Review draft workspace does not publish, affect ratings or automatically transfer the draft into the public composer.

Steps

1. Open a Book and select Write review, or choose Write an honest Review from My Reading.
2. Choose Your rating and Reading outcome, including Did not finish when appropriate.
3. Write Your review in your own words, using at least 20 characters.
4. Mark spoilers and every applicable ARC/free-copy, affiliate or sponsorship relationship under Before you publish.
5. Select Preview review and inspect the rating, outcome, text and disclosures. Choose Edit review if anything needs changing.
6. Select Publish review only when ready. An existing Review uses Update and publish. Wait for Your review is published.
7. Return to the same Book to edit your Review or use Remove this review. Removing a Review is separate from removing the Book from your private shelves.

What happens next

Your explicitly published Review contributes public opinion and its relationship context. Private notes, private drafts and ARC feedback remain separate.

Common problems

Preview review is disabled.

Write at least 20 characters, then check the rating, outcome and disclosures.

You cannot rate your own Book.

An Author-profile relationship prevents that account from rating the Book. You may respond to Reader reviews through the available Author response controls.

Only a private draft was saved.

A private draft is not a public Review. Open the Book's review composer and deliberately review and publish your opinion there when ready.
